Abstract

Hydroxynitrile lyases (HNLs) naturally occur in plants integrated in microbial and herbivore defense mechanisms by HCN-release due to cyanohydrin cleavage. Some HNLs are biochemically characterized in detail concerning substrate specificity and enantioselectivity.
