Abstract

Tri-n-butyltin hydride (n-BusSnH) is widely used, in the presence of AIBN, as a radical initiator in numerous reactions of carbon-carbon bond formation, through a dehalogenating pr0cess. l However, n-Bu3SnH can also be a powerful carbonyl reducing reagent for aldehydes and ketones when it is used in the presence of a Lewis acid, 2 triphenylphosphine or AIBN4 or neat in boiling methan01.~ Although halodibutyltin ...
