Abstract: A series of substituted 9-fluorenyltriphenylphosphonium bromides (11) and another of 9-fluorenyltriphenylphosphonium bromides (IV) substituted on the phenyl group have been prepared and converted to the corresponding fluorenylidenephosphoranes. The acidities of the two series of phosphonium salts followed a linear correlation with Taft's UO and Hammett's u constants with p values of f5. 0 and+ 4.8, respectively. The basicity of the ...
