Abstract

Recent developments in fluorine and sulfur chemistry have led us to investigate the use of ethyl thioltrifluoroacetate as an acetylating agent for amino acids and peptides in aqueous solution. The intense electrophilic property of the trifluoroacyl group is combined with the unusual aminophilicity of the sulfur atom in this thiol ester.
