Abstract

The metabotropic glutamate receptor 5 (mGluR5) belongs to family C of the G-protein coupled receptors (GPCR) and it mediates the actions of the excitatory neurotransmitter, l-glutamate. 1, 2 and 3 Recently, preclinical investigation into the role of mGluR5 in anxiety, depression, pain, mental retardation, and drug dependence has suggested that the mGluR5 may be a novel target for therapeutic intervention. 4 In particular, studies using either an mGluR5 ...
