Abstract

Base, mp (tr. 160') 210'Acetylation of Ethylene Thiourea.-Thiourea may be acetylated on the sulfur atom with acetyl chloride in the cold. When heated for several hours in boiling toluene, acetylisothiourea is rearranged to N-acetylthio~ rea.~ Under suitable conditions, a diacetyl derivative of thiourea may be obtained. l0 Study of the acetylation reaction was extended to the behavior of ethylene thiourea with acetic anhydride and acetyl chloride. ...
