Abstract

Summary 1. Crotonaldehyde and cinnamaldehyde have been shown to form products with isopropyl and benzyl carbamate in which the molar ratio is one aldehyde to two carbamate molecules. 2. The reaction of a-ethylcinnamaldehyde and carbamates is in a one to one molar ratio and is attended by ring closure to form substituted indanone derivatives. The identity of the products has been established by comparison with authentic samples.
