Abstract

A convenient synthesis of sulfonic esters from thiols and disulfides is described. In situ preparation of sulfonyl chlorides from thiols is accomplished by oxidation with trichloroisocyanuric acid (TCCA), tetra-butylammonium chloride (t-Bu4NCl), and water.
