Alkylation by alkyl halides and oxonium salts of enamines derived from a series of sterically hindered amines was studied. Cyclohexanone enamines of diisobutylamine, n- butylisobutylamine, and 2, 2-dimethylpyrrolidine were found in some cases to give improved yields of C-alkylated products.
