Abstract

Bromination of Potassium Salt of I.--One mole of Ib was dissolved in a solution of 180 g. of potassium bromide in 1500 cc. of water. The solution was cooled in an icebath and exposed to direct sunlight. A solution of 160 g. of bromine and 180 g. of potassium bromide in 600 CC. of water was added as it was utilized.
