In prelirninary communications3 the relationship existing between the electric moment of certain molecules containing an oxygen atom and the oxygen valence angle was discussed. Since this article was first submitted, a paper by Smyth and Walls4 has appeared in which they conclude that the oxygen valence angle in the diphenyl ethers is 121* 5'.
