Abstract

Dialkyl hydrogen phosphonates or dialkylphosphine oxides are conveniently and efficiently alkylated by alkyl chlorides to produce dialkyl alkylphosphonates or trialkylphosphine oxides, respectively, by aqueous sodium hydroxide in a liquid-liquid phase-transfer- catalyzed reaction.
