Abstract 1, 1-Disodio-2, 3, 4, 5-tetraphenyl-1-silacyclopentadiene (II, 1, 1-disodio-TPSCp) was obtained from the reaction of 1, 1-dichloro-2, 3, 4, 5-tetraphenyl-1-silacyclopentadiene (1, 1-dichloro-TPSCp) with sodium. The reaction of II with MeI and XSiMe 2 Cl (X= H, Me, Cl) gave the corresponding 1, 1-dimethyl-, and 1, 1-bis (XSiMe 2)-TPSCp's, respectively.
