Abstract

hi-tert-butylsilane, di-tert-butylmethylsilane, and tert-butyldimethylsilane were converted into the corresponding silyl perchlorates through a rapid and quantitative exchange with trityl perchlorate. Tri-tert-butylsilyl perchlorate proved somewhat difficult to prepare and was quite unreactive. tert-Butyldimethylsilyl perchlorate reacted with alcohols much more rapidly than did the usual reagent, tert-butyldimethylsilyl chloride.
