Abstract

Abstract Tilorone hydrochloride (1), the dihydrochloride of bis-2, 7-[(diethylamino) ethoxy] fluoren-9-one, is an orally active, interferon stimulating, antiviral agent in mice. 1, 2 Extensive studies have also shown the effectiveness of this compound as an antitumor and antiinflammatory agent. 3, 4 Tilorone hydrochloride is currently being investigated as an adjuvant in the early treatment of cancer. 5
