6,8-Rearrangement of the compounds 8-phenyl-5,7-dihydroxyflavylium and 8-methyl-5,7-dihydroxyflavylium is not observed at pH 1. However, the 6,8-rearrangement could be investigated by extending these studies to the moderately acidic region, in particular in the presence of a β-cyclodextrin derivative (captisol).
