Some of the sympathomimetic amines such as epinephrine, ephedrine, benzedrine and propadrine contain the characteristic structure of P-phenylethylamine. 2-Alkylimidazolines2 also show sympathomimetic action, the most effective being 2-benzylimidazoline (I) which likewise contains the 0-phenylethylamine skeleton.
