Abstract

The Friedel− Crafts acylation of arenes with esters by dimethylchlorosilane and 10 mol% of indium tribromide has been achieved. The key intermediate RCOOSi (Cl) Me2 is generated from alkoxy esters with the evolution of the corresponding alkanes.
