Abstract

1 series of 2-oxaspiranes,(CH2),, C (CHz). i0 (I), with n= 2 (11), 3 (111), 4 (Is') and 5 (V), has been synthesized and studied to observe effects of small changes in bond angle deformation in the strained oxetane ring. Comparison was made of infrared spectra, hydrogen bonding abilities and ease of reductive cleavage with lithium aluminum hvdride of these compounds, as well as of oxetane (VI) and 3, 3-diethyloxetane (VII).
