Abstract

4-Chloro-2-(1-hydroxybenzyl) pyridine and 4-chloro-2-(1-hydroxyalkyl) pyridines were obtained with moderate to excellent enantiomeric excesses and high isolated yields by bioreduction with Baker's yeast of the corresponding ketones.
