Abstract

The combination of enzymatic kinetic resolution with a metal-catalyzed racemization by reversible hydrogen transfer was reported by Williams and co-workers for the preparation of enantiomerically pure secondary alcohols. In this early work, the rhodium catalyst [Rh2 (OAc) 4] and a lipase effected dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR) with 60% conversion and 98% ee.[1] The research groups of Bäckvall,[2–5] Kim, and Park [6–8] have devised ...
