Abstract

The synthesis of some 2-amino-5-arylthiomethyloxazolines and intermediates is reported. These compounds and some of their intermediates although less active than d- amphetamine were found to have significant anorectant activity. The most active in this series was found to be 2-amino-5-(phenylthiomethy1) oxazoline (7a) and caused a significant decrease in the food intake of male albino rats when compared to controls.
