Abstract: The synthesis of tricyclo [4.2. 0.0'~ 4] octane-3-carboxylic acid (15) was effected via a diazoketone ring contraction of tricycl0 [5.2. 0. O~~~] nonan-4-one. The structure was determined by X-ray crystallographic analysis of the p-bromoanilide derived from 15.
