Abstract

A study of the reactions of trimethoxyboroxine with nine aromatic Grignard reagents is reported. Borinic acids, isolated as their aminoethyl esters, are obtained in yields of 21-63%. Studies of the effect of temperature, the ratio of reactants and the influence of some steric and electrical factors in the Grignard reagent on the yield of borinic acid are reported and discussed.
