Abstract

The anthracycline antibiotics daunorubicin and adriamycin are potent antitumor agents. It has recently been suggested that 5-oxaanthracycline analogs of these compounds might show reduced cardiotoxicity, a property that limits the clinical use of the anthracyclines.
