Abstract

Four primary amines of the a-phenylneopentyl type (Ia-d) have been prepared and their products of reaction with nitrous acid determined. a-Phenylneopentylamine (Ia) gave exclusively the corresponding unrearranged alcohol or its nitrite ester, whereas amine Ib, having three ethyl groups on the P-carbon atom, and amines IC and Id, having a phenyl group and two methyl or ethyl groups on the@-carbon atoms, formed rearranged products ...
