将过量的40%的氢氟酸放入铂皿中，往其中一点点地加入碳酸锶，所得沉淀应用倾析法分离并用水洗涤，在电热板上蒸发至干。然后加热至150℃真空脱水，即得氟化锶结晶。也可用其他方法制备。
