1.作药物消瘤芥、八氮二丙醚、双解磷的中间体。也是维生素B2的中间体(合成3,4-二甲基苯胺的原料)。
2.用于有机合成;医药工业用于合成抗肿瘤药淄瘤芥、解毒药物双复磷等。
3.工业上用作甲基化剂、试剂和制造离子交换树脂的中间体。

二氯甲基醚制备
1.由多聚甲醛经氯化而得。
2.制法:
于装有搅拌器、温度计、滴液漏斗的反应瓶中,加入1.0kg(31.25mol)多聚甲醛(2)、250g浓盐酸,冰水浴冷却至10℃以下,搅拌下慢慢滴加氯磺酸3.9kg,控制滴加速度保持反应温度在10℃左右。加完后室温搅拌反应4h。放置过夜。分出上层溶液,用冰水洗涤两次,再用40%的氢氧化钠溶液及少量碎冰洗涤,固体氢氧化钠干燥。常压分馏,收集100~105℃的馏分,得a,a′-二氯二甲醚①(1)2.3kg,收率65%。注:①该化合物为剧毒品,并有致癌作用,使用时应特别注意安全。
