由苯酚溴化而得。将溴素、二硫化碳溶液加入苯酚二硫化碳溶液中，在5℃以下开始加入，在搅拌下2h加完。苯酚和溴素接近等摩尔配料。将反应物蒸馏除去二硫化碳，再进行减压分馏，收集145-150℃（3.32-3.99kPa）馏分即得产品。产率80-84%。
