Novel, squarylium dyes containing 1-(alkylcarbamoylmethyl)-2, 3, 3-trimethyl-3H-indolium groups were synthesized and their UV/Vis and fluorescence spectra, aggregation, photo- stability and association with bovine serum albumin were studied.
