Abstract The oxidative intramolecular coupling reaction of phenol ether derivatives (nonphenolic derivatives) on treatment with a novel combination of a hypervalent iodine (III) reagent, phenyliodine bis (trifluoroacetate)(PIFA), and heteropoly acid (HPA) was studied.
