On the other hand, arylketones are also important building blocks in both natural products and functional materials. 5 The classical routes to the synthesis of arylketones rely on the oxidation of the corresponding secondary alcohols, 6 Friedel–Crafts acylation of aromatic compounds 7 and transition-metal-catalyzed arylation of acyl chlorides, 8 nitriles 9 or aldehydes. 10 More direct synthesis of diarylketones from readily available compounds will be highly desired. ...
