(m, 4 H, CHzCHz), 1.35 (d, J = 7 Hz, 3 H, CHJ; IR (CHCl,, cm-') 3200-2800 (br s), 1710 (s), 1650 (w), 1600 (w), 1490 (m), 1460 (m), 1310 (m), 990 (9). Anal. Calcd for CI3Hl4O2: C, 77.20; H, 6.98. Found: C, 71.25; H, 7.27. The acid was also obtained by alkylation of the ester 11 with Me1 at -35 "C according to the general procedure followed by saponification of the resulting ester in a mixture of 20 g of KOH in ethanol-water (l:l, v/v). ...
