Contribution from the Chemistry Department, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Upton, New York. Received July 30, 1964 a-Phenylethylazomethane (IIIa), a-phenylethyl-ad- azomethane (Zllb), and a-phenylethylazomethane-d3 (ZIIc) were prepared. The isotope eflects in the thermal decomposition, kIIIa/kIIlb= 1.13 and krIrajkIIIc= 0.97, were found. In addition, the CL3 effect in the decomposition of a-phenylethylazomethane-C 'is k12jk13= ...
