The reactivity of the methylene radical in N-(2-theny1)-formaldimine has been demonstrated previously. 2 It: has also been shown that in the aminomethylation of thiophene the 2- thenylamine (I) is formed as a secondary product by the reaction of N-(2-theny1)- formaldimine (11) with thiophene and not as a primary product as originally believed.
