The synthesis and examination of the steric structure and physiological activity of y- piperidones and y-piperidols have been the subject of many reports [8, 10, 12]. There is, however, little information on 4-oxo (hydroxy, amino) piperidines with aryl substituents in the a,~', 8-positions.
