Abstract Diethoxymethyltributyltin was obtained in high yield from the reaction of tributylstannylmagnesium chloride with diethylphenylorthoformate. It reacted readily with acetyl chloride to give chloroethoxymethyltributyltin, which was easily transformed to ethoxymethyltributyltin by reduction with tributyltin hydride.
