摘要

It has long been known that aliphatic ethers may be cleaved by acid chlorides at elevated temperatures in the presence of catalysts. Recently it has been shown that the reaction proceeds at ordinary temperatures, though very s10wly.~ With acid chlorides it has not been possible to dispense with a catalyst. Acid bromides, however, cleave ethers without the use of catalysts, though high temperatures are required to accomplish this resulL4
