The Arbuzov reaction of trimethyl and triethyl phosphites with acyl chlorides gave 1- oxoalkylphosphonates in 57–80% yields. The Wittig reaction of the phosphonates with methylenetriphenylphosphorane gave vinylphosphonates in 25–59% yields.
