Abstract One-pot procedures for the preparation of highly substituted indenes, tetrahydroindenes, and cyclopentadienes have been developed by using a combination of zirconocene-mediated C [BOND] C-bond-forming reactions with Lewis acid mediated activation of carbonyl groups.
