5-Amino-2-furancarboxylic acid methyl ester undergoes a facile Diels-Alder cycloaddition with a variety of dienophiles to afford ring-opened cycloadducts that are readily dehydrated using BF3⊙ OEt2 to give polysubstituted anilines.
