Selective anionic polymerization of 4-vinylbenzyl methacrylate at methacrylate site has been achieved using resonance stabilized anionic initiators such as 1, 1-diphenylhexyllithium (DPHLi) and tritylpotassium (TritylK) in tetrahydrofuran (THF) at− 78° C.
