A Ferrier rearrangement and β-hydroxyketone transposition are key steps in a route to a pancratistatin C-ring precursor. A key feature of the strategy is the pseudoinversion accomplished by β-hydroxyketone transposition, which allows convenient access from methyl α-d-glucopyranoside.
