Stereoselective total syntheses of the tropane alkaloids scopine (1) and pseudoscopine (3) have been developed via the chloroacetoxylation approach. Palladium-catalyzed 1, 4- chloroacetoxylation of diene 6 afforded the key intermediate 7.
