Synthesis and characterization of the previously undescribed 1, 3-bis (l, l-diphenylhydrazyl)- 2, 4, 6-trinitro-benzene is described Removal of the two hydrazinic hydrogen atoms by oxidation with PbOs proceeds in two steps, leading first to an unstable radical very similar to DPPH (epr, color) and then yielding the (very unstable)" dihydrazyl" molecule.
