Homogeneous hydrogenation of substituted (Z)-ene-1, 2-di-(−)-(1R, 3R, 4S)- methylcarbamate catalysed by rhodium complexes containing (+)-(2S, 3S) or (−)-(2R, 3R)- isopropylidene-2, 3-dihydroxy-1, 4-bis (diphenylphosphino) butane (DIOP) gives rise to the saturated products with a diastereomeric excess (de) of 47% and 40%, respectively.
