N-(5, 5-Diacetoxypent-l-yl) doxorubicin (DAPDOX)(3), a new, water-soluble analogue of doxorubicin, has been synthesized by coupling doxorubicin with 5-oxopentane-1, l-diacetate in the presence of NaBH&N.
