Hydroformylation of ethyl isobutenyl ether gave two isomeric aldehydes. The major product was the expect, ed 2-ethoxy-3-methylbutyraldehyde. The minor product was 4-ethoxy-3- methylbutyraldehyde, which must have arisen from a rearrangement of the double bond of the isobutenyl group.
