Primary alkyl iodides reacted with silver perchlorate and with silver triflate in pentane, carbon tetrachloride, or 1, 1, 2-trichlorotrifluoroethane to give mixtures of the primary and secondary perchlorates and triflates, respectively, with secondary isomers predominating.
