Ketene mercaptals, of the general formula CHFC (SR)~, have been relatively unknown. Rothstein'has reported the preparation of methyl ketene diethyl mercaptal by the abnormal dehydrohalogenation of p-chloropropionaldehyde diethyl mercaptal.
